Transition into Adulthood
Under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), schools are responsible for some supports as students transition into adulthood. A student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) should include transition planning. Many schools start around ages 12-16.

The two programs are Weatherization and the Home Heating Credit. Cash grants are provided to low income families to help them pay their heating and utility bills.

Michigan State Emergency Relief (SER)
Low income assistance program that provides limited assistance to households who have a crisis situation that threatens their health or safety. Call your local Community Action Agency.

Winter Protection Plan
This heating assistance plan protects low income and senior customers from natural gas or electric service shut-off between December 1 and March 31. Call your local utility company.
